Looking to seal up fifth place in the Jayhawk West Division, the Barton volleyball team accomplished the mission Wednesday night in Garden City with a 3-1 victory at Garden City Community College. Dropping the first set 25-20 with a sub- par performance, the Cougars played better as the night went on taking the second set 25-20 before dominating the final two 25-18 and 25-15 to run their unblemished series mark against the Broncbusters to 37-0.

The victory also gets Barton to the .500 mark at 8-8 in concluding the conference portion of the schedule while improving to 18-13 on the season. The loss drops Garden City to 6-9 in conference play, alone in sixth place by two wins, as the Broncbusters head to their finale with a 10-21 record on the season.

The Cougars leave Thursday to make the near eight hour trek to Scottsbluff, Nebraska, as Barton concludes the regular season with four matches in the Western Nebraska Community College Classic. Barton begins play at 12:00 p.m. Friday against No. 12 ranked San Jacinto College-Central before a 6:00 p.m. match against Laredo Community College. Two additional ranked opponents line Saturday's schedule with a 10:00 a.m. match against the nation's second ranked Iowa Western Community College squad with a 4:00 p.m. regular season finale match against host and No. 4 ranked Western Nebraska.
