Rian Robinson of the fifth ranked Barton Community College women's track and field team has been awarded the female KJCCC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for week two following her performances last week at the West Texas A&M Classic in Canyon, Texas.
The University of Southern Mississippi signee led four Lady Cougars with personal best efforts in the 400m, winning the event as Barton went 1-2-4 with each's time eclipsing the national qualifying standard. Robinson's winning time of 54.01 beat out teammate Chenelle Ricketts' 54.72 while Latoya Stewart crossed in fourth at 55.04. Tia Steward finished outside the placings but joined the trio clocking a personal best 58.97.
Robinson, Ricketts, and Stewart were joined in the 4x400m by Asjah Wallace as the tandem won the event in the seventh fastest time in school history with the nation's top time of 3:38.64. Barton also entered a second relay squad to the event, coming in third as Keosha Sanders, Mahendra McWhite, Tiara Williams, and Steward also exceeded the national qualifying standards with a 3:54.12.
As a team the Lady Cougars had an overall great performance weekend finishing third in the 6th Annual event. Competing against mostly four-year competition, Barton grabbed three golds within their seventeen Top-8 placings, had seventeen performances that exceeded the national qualifying standard, and sixteen personal best performances.
Robinson and the Lady Cougars will be in Wichita today and Friday competing in the KT Woodman Classic at Cessna Stadium.
