Barton tennis duo upset fourth seed, advance to national semifinals

Completing their fifth straight victory coming in three-sets, Neus Torregrosa and Idah Longwe of the Barton Community College women's tennis team have advanced to the semifinal round of the NJCAA Division I National Tennis Championships in Tucson, Arizona.

Being the lone Lady Cougar survivors through three days of competition at the Reffkin Tennis Center, the No. 7 ranked duo fought back from a 5-7 deficit to earn 6-4, 6-4 set victories to knock off the fourth rated tandem of Naa Ankrah and Khanh Huynh from Mesa Community College.   Torregrosa and Longwe will next take on the second ranked squad of Kokoro Chishaki and Anita Detlava of St. Petersburg College on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. for the right to play in Thursday's championship.
