Barton women's golf rolls to third conference victory of season; Piddon wins third title by ten strokes

The Barton Community College women's golf team protected their home course the past two days by nearly doubling their first round advantage to win their fifth KJCCC meet of the season.  Building a fifteen stroke advantage through eighteen holes on a 20-30 mph windy Friday, the Lady Cougars returned to the much calmer StoneRidge Golf Course on Saturday tacking on another fourteen strokes to run away with the title with a 518 team score to No. 12 ranked Dodge City Community College's 547.

Peerada Piddon won individual honors by ten strokes in firing a 3-over par in leading five Lady Cougars in the top ten individual standings.  Despite the windy conditions on Friday, Piddon stayed the course carding a 3-over 75 before closing with a par 36 in finishing with a 111 to capture her third conference title of the season.

In a repeat of last week, Dodge City would occupy the next couple of spots with Orakorn Thirayatorn leading the Lady Conquistadors following her opening 82 with a second round best 4-over par 39 to finish at 121, five strokes better than teammate Kanyakorn Chothirunpanit.

Mackenzie Fabrizius placed second on the Lady Cougar squad improving on her day one 86 to close with a 42 to finish at 128.  Kendra Jellison also made improvements in final round opening with a 93 before carding a 47 to finish in the fifth spot at 140.

Dodge City's individualist Logan Gleason put together consistent rounds of 95-48 to grab the sixth spot, one stroke better than Lucia Rodriguez Zapico's 144 score carding rounds of 95 and 49 in just her second collegiate tournament.

Making the biggest move up the leaderboard, Miranda Kern followed her 101 first round firing a 44 on the final nine holes vaulting up into an eighth place tie with Coffeyville Community College's Jordan Lee at 145.  Fellow Red Raven Bailey Bowman finished two strokes behind to nab the final top ten spot.

Competing individually, Janae Champlin led three Lady Cougars with 101-52 rounds to finish at 153.  Taylor Becker, who nearly aced the par three fourth hole, led the trio in the final round with a 50 in following her opening 115 for a 165 to edge out teammate Olivia Neuenswander's 111-56 rounds by two strokes.

The meet had an obvious omission of a couple of the conference's key players to not only open up the team race but the individual leaderboard.  Dodge City played the tournament without one of their top three players with Rachanok Rahulpan's early Friday withdrawal due to injury while Coffeyville was also shorthanded missing the services of its top golfer Cheyenne Musser.

The Lady Cougars and their conference counterparts will reunite in Dodge City next Friday and Saturday for the KJCCC Meet No. 6 in their final tune-up before region play beginning April 21.
