Rally falls short for Barton women’s golf to begin second half conference action

The Barton Community College women's golf team rallied on day two but fell three strokes short finishing second in the fourth KJCCC Meet of the season.  Opening up the spring portion of the schedule with a conference meet, the Lady Cougars trailed by four after the first eighteen holes at the Emporia Golf Course cutting one stroke off the deficit in the final nine.  Dodge City Community College held off the Lady Cougars assuring itself at least a tie for the conference title capturing its third straight conference meet grabbing a 3-1 lead heading into the final two meets of the season.  The Conquistadors' posted a winning 532 twenty-seven hole combined total with the Lady Cougars' carding their highest conference score of the season at 535.  Coffeyville Community College did not field a complete team and therefore did not register a team score.

Having won the individual title at the previous conference meet giving the Lady Cougars eleven of the last twelve titles, Peerada Piddon's bid for two straight fell short.  Tied for second after an opening round 81 with Coffeyville's Julia Dierker, Piddon's final nine 37 kept the freshman in second place.   Dierker instead surged to the top with a meet low 35 erasing a two stroke deficit to eighteen hole leader Orakorn Thirayatorn of Dodge City who carded a final round 39 slipping into a tie with Piddon.

The Lady Cougars' Leeseo Park and Dodge City's Rachanok Rahulpan recorded identical 85-44 rounds tying for the fourth spot while Barton's Mackenzie Fabrizius and the Lady Conqs' Tiarra Diaz tied for the sixth spot with a 144.   Diaz had a one stroke 93 edge after day one but Fabrizius caught the sophomore carding a 47 on the final nine.

Coffeyville's Cheyenne Musser grabbed the eighth spot with a 142 while Dodge City's McKayla Hendrix took ninth.   Tied for the ninth spot after the opening eighteen with a 97, Lea Clubb fell a spot in the final rankings with a closing score of 51.

The Lady Cougars will return to the greens April 3-4 in conference meet No. 5 held at Dodge City's Mariah Hills Golf Course.
