The No. 21 ranked Barton Community College men's tennis team won the top doubles match in Friday's dual with NCAA Division II Colorado Christian University but could only grab the lower singles duals in dropping the match 6-3 at windy Great Bend's Veteran's Memorial Park tennis courts. The Cougars drop to 2-4 on the season with their next match scheduled for Saturday, March 24, in a 2:00 p.m. first serve at Tabor College.
The No. 1 doubles tandem of Marcel Miasato and Miguel Valle picked up the lone double victory with an 8-6 win over CCU's Ryder Searle and Nic Hoime as the other two doubles squads came up short in 8-2 and 8-4 losses.
Barton played close in four of the six singles matches but only pulled out a pair of victories. Thales Machado de Souza earned one of those with a third set 10-7 super tie victory having to rally from dropping the first set 6-3 to force the tiebreak with a 6-4 victory.
Tinashe Muzenyi picked up the other victory coming out on the top end of a 7-6 first set, winning the tie break 8-6, before sweeping the match with a 6-3 win.
