Barton's Horsangchai garners PING All-District honors

Jakkapat Horsangchai of the No. 20 ranked Barton Community College men's golf team was announced Monday as a recipient of the PING All-District III team award.  Presented by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), the award recognizes players among the Division I ranks of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

A sophomore from Thailand, Horsangchai placed ninth at the KJCCC Championshipsbefore firing a final round 3-under par 69 in his last tournament as a Cougar at the Region VI/District III Championships finishing four strokes shy of a national bid.  The University of the Pacific signee placed ninth in the conference championship to place in the top ten of the season standings earning second team honors for the second straight year.

Ranked 36th in the country, Horsangchai averaged 73.73 per round registering four eagles and forty-four birdies in twenty-two rounds.  Horsangchai was the only golfer under par in last fall's Central Kansas Classic at McPherson's Turkey Creek Golf Course shooting a three round 4-under par total to run away with the title.

Horsangchai is the second straight Cougar to earn the award as fellow native Natchapol Srinoon received the award last year.
