Two Barton Community College men's basketball players recently received post-season honors on the All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) Division team with one landing on the All-Region VI Division I team.  Sophomore Derek Dorn headlined the pair earning second team honors on both the conference and region teams while fellow sophomore Dequandre Dentmond garnering All-Conference honorable mention honors.

Dorn, a sophomore transfer from fellow region school Seward County Community College, led the Cougars in scoring with 12.7 points per game, assists with 3.3 per game, and steals with 1.6 per contest.  A New Rochelle, New York, native, Dorn was also solid at the free throw line sinking 80.8 percent of his charity throws getting to the line 5.7 times per game.  Reaching double-figure scoring twenty times in his lone year as a Cougar, Dorn put up over twenty-points seven times during the season with a career best twenty-six point effort.   Dorn also exceeded the five dime mark seven times including a career best eight assist effort.

Originating from Lansing, Michigan, Dentmond was one of three transfers from Vincennes University to make an impact on the Cougars this past season.  Leading Barton hauling down eight rebounds per game, Dentmond was third on the team in scoring at 10.9 points per game ranking second in field goal percentage at 60.6 and free throw percentage at 72.9 including making ten or more free throws three times in conference play alone.   Credited with two last second game winning baskets during conference play, Dentmond recorded a career high twenty-four point effort leading Barton to twenty-six point victory at Cloud County Community College.  Dentmond posted his season high rebound mark recording his first career double-double night scoring nineteen points and fifteen rebounds in a win over Hesston College finishing the season with six double-double games.
