For the second straight week, Josh Hendrickson of the Barton Community College baseball team has been named the KJCCC Kansas MTXE Division I Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Striking out seven to win week three's honor, Hendrickson struck out ten in week four in the Cougars' 4-0 home opening victory this past Sunday versus Western Nebraska. Scattering five hits in five innings of work, Hendrickson ended four of those innings on strikeouts including fanning the final two batters in the second to strand consecutive singles. Hendrickson's biggest threat came in his final inning as a leadoff double would be stranded but the Australian mowed down the final three batters to conclude his day. The victory improved the sophomore transfer's record to 2-0 with 22 strikeouts and lowered his 0.64 ERA in his fourteen innings on the mound.
Completing the sweep of WNCC on Monday, the Cougars improved to 9-3 on the season following Tuesday 16-8 victory over the junior varsity of McPherson College. Barton continues their busy week on Friday in a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader at Redlands Community College with a pair of home games following at 1:00 p.m. Saturday hosting the JV of Bethany College.
