Barton Athletics wraps up off-season completing staff for 2017-18

The Barton Community College Board of Trustees during their monthly meeting held this afternoon approved the hiring of Taylor Littleton as an assistant for its volleyball program and Tyler Gunelson filling the vacant assistant softball position. 

The Barton Community College Board of Trustees during their monthly meeting held this afternoon approved the hiring of Taylor Littleton as an assistant for its volleyball program and Tyler Gunelson filling the vacant assistant softball position.

In a busy summer for the Athletic Department, the latest two hires fill the needed vacancies as last month the Board approved the hiring of Joel Prickett as head softball coach, former athlete Mark'Quis Frazier to assist with the track and field program, Colby Crank as wrestling assistant coach, and Takesha Watson for the same position with the women's basketball program.

A 2013 Barton graduate, Littleton begins her collegiate coaching career joining the volleyball program as assistant coach.  The Derby, Kansas, native was a member of the Cougars' 2011 Region VI Championship team, moving on to Division I Mississippi Valley State University before concluding her career at Ottawa University.  

Gunelson comes to Barton from Salina, Kansas, bringing seven years of coaching from the high school, NJCAA, and NAIA levels, as well as, experience from summer programs.  Having begun his educational career at Brown Mackie College, Gunelson earned his Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Management from Newman University before earning his Master's degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from Emporia State University.
